Connie, the building manager is the most wonderful person I've ever met. I don't rent here, I actually own one of the units, since 2008. It's the best place I've ever lived. Connie, the people of Des Moines and all Iowans are amazingly friendly. My work has taken me to Phoenix and I miss living there very much..........
I have loved calling Park Place home. The location couldn’t be better to get downtown for the farmers markets in the summer or just on the freeway to head out west. It really is the perfect spot to live downtown!
4 days later, I returned to view the apartment with a different potential roommate. I found out later that night he was not interested and called Park Place to inform them I would be backing out. They told me I could not receive my deposit back.
Stealing peoples deposits is not a business plan. I would not recommend Park Place to anyone.

Park Place Apartments in Des Moines is owned by Steadfast Companies. Under their "corporate policy" these people make it VERY difficult to cash refund checks from them once you leave. It lends to the appearance that they are targeting college interns, who have little recourse to try and remedy the problem. Calling the corporate headquarters doesn't work, they just cycle you right back to the local manager who blames the people at corporate. They have quite the little scam going on there and if you don't mind living in an aged, outdated apartment building, and then losing your deposit money, this is the place for you. To Parks Place's response: Why not write a check to each of the renters for half of the deposit? You took separate checks from them, and now you want two people who hardly know each other who happened to share an apartment for the summer to coordinate negotiating one check that you sent? You know how difficult it is for them, which results in the check never getting cashed, which means more money to Park Place and Steadfast! Shame on YOU for targeting college students to line your greedy corporate pockets!!!

I placed a $300 deposit on an apartment here for my roommate and I. They could not show me the apartment until it was cleaned and was given the option to back out once I saw it. We decided to proceed with the application process and they denied my roommate due to an old conviction (which I was unaware of) from 5 years ago that had been expunged and was not even on his record anymore.
Well, almost 10 years later I'm back, and so glad to be here. Love living here at Park Place. The perfect location, and what a view of downtown from my 15th floor windows and balcony. The manager has been so great in helping me with my tenant here these past years. The new management has told me they will be addressing many of the issues, such as the elevator that has been broken forever and the broken front door opener. I hope these and others will be taken care of because I plan on being here a long time!
