We ordered the Thanksgiving dinner pizza. So good! Waitress was super friendly and funny. Fun atmosphere. Only a about a 5 minute wait for 2 of us! Will definitely be back next time we're in Des Moines.
We had dinner here before a show. It is a busy place on weekends, and we had a bit of a wait. Once seated we had great service. The menu was like looking over a pizza menu from some sort of alternate universe where pizza was invented in Chinatown instead of Little Italy. We started with the Cheese sticks. These were very good and neat twist on a traditional mozzarella stick. Wrapped in a egg-roll style wrapper instead of breading, they are surprisingly light, crispy and flaky. From there we moved on to the pizza. We order two small pizzas to share among for people. With the cheese sticks, this was just a little too much food, but it was so good we didn't let any go to waste. The Crab Rangoon pizza is an inspired twist on the classic crab Rangoon. The thin crispy crust holds up well to the flavorful toppings. The drizzle of chili sauce adds a nice tang reminiscent of a great sweet and sour. We also had the grinder pizza. This was good, but just a little too traditional. Overall this was a great place for a good dinner. I'd happily go back.
What a great gem of quirky atmosphere, great food, and solid service. It’s a place you can visit 100 times and never be bored with the menu or the experience. You aren’t going to find standard pizzas here; these are gourmet pies. The handcrafted cocktails are delicious and whimsical. If you like fusion-style restaurants, do yourself a favor and check it out.
Great place to go when you need late night food. They serve either pizza by the slice or you can order whole pizzas. One of their most famous dishes is the crab Rangoon pizza. It sounds good, that's for sure, but it is quite delicious. Pour some honey and sriracha on top and you have an excellent late night drunchies meal.
Fong’s is a fun atmosphere combining pizza, Chinese, and alcohol. The unique menu options are usually pretty tasty but you can’t find many traditional pizzas. The location is a bit cramped and can fill up quickly on the weekends. I tried a couple mixed drinks that were really good.
