A great modern library! It is hard to believe that this place is already over a decade old but it serves the city of Des Moines well. I enjoy reading on the second floor.
I'd love to go here and have been trying but the hours are some of the most horrible I've seen for a public library. The worst of any place I've lived. Most other cities keep their library open until 8 or 9 at night. Closing at 6 is kind of nuts considering most people work until 5. Once you factor in traffic and such, there is no time. They are also closed on Saturday. Shame since I'd really love to be able to go, but don't think I'll be able to.
Des Moines Public Library please look into extending your hours. At least for a few branches.
Love being social profiled by a security guard when I use to be one too, sorry for being a feminist! Understand sleeping outside of the library is not right for being homeless but a warning would be nice instead of trespassing. But what can you do it’s world were when people don’t like you, they call the cops even when you don’t cause any commotion and use trespassing to get ride of you? Des Moines is not that bad place. Just some people don’t have the same view as others on life and religion. Some like to talk others like to walk, I rather walk not talk and let others watch me walk in the city that’s open minded and not controlling like a relationship about be divorced.
Good selection of latest books. And guess what they have Drive thru pickup and drop-off facility. Inner layout little confusing, but once you figure this out you can find the book easily.
