The place is packed and under staffed for such a big sale. The staff and shoppers were pleasant but I saw many give up and leave...especially in shoes. I have been to 2 different Younkers today. Same in both.
I was surprisingly impressed with the prices today. Too bad they don't offer 50-70% off all the time. I know it's just to pull in Christmas shoppers but they still need to pull in everyday shoppers too. In my experience today at this location....the shoppers are few and range in age 50-80, mostly women and 1-2 items purchased. Hey Younkers, you might want to find a way to pull in a different demographic of shopper. If you want to stay open you need to target the 30-60 age group especially in the southside community.
South ridge needs self check-out. 3 people standing in line, clerk at register says , Oh I'm helping someone out in the floor". Seriously, almost left without buying a thing. Flo came to the rescue. If not for her 3 of us would have left empty handed. Bad experience today.
They have a small but great learning enhanced toy selection. Though, I wasn't initially there for toys. I did buy two Christmas. I think the kids will be happy with. No shoe selections for children and not enough holiday help.
Expect the employees to take 5 minutes or more to check each person out. Expect the manager aleays has one less registers than she should open. Also expect when you have an issue with someone returning a blanket having stitched a tear they made in it the employees missing the fact that it's stitched even though it's quite obvious and it what's on top in Plainview when they let it to be returned that the manager will only give you $4 off of that even though it's only blanket left in that style. Even after having waited in a 2nd line for 15 minutes for her.
